Paralegal – Commercial, Employment, and Personal Injury

Our firm is seeking a litigation paralegal with 5-7 years of experience handling Commercial, Employment, and Personal Injury cases. We are looking for a team player who is professional, confident, and comfortable managing a large docket of cases. The person in this role will be responsible for managing the document and information on case matters, including drafting and managing discovery, preparing motions, coordinating and calendaring hearings, deadlines, and depositions.

The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of Federal and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.

Responsibilities 

  • Work with and assist attorneys on a heavy caseload of litigation defense matters
  • Assist attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, and preparing trial binders
  • Draft pleadings and motions and other legal documents and correspondence
  • Communicate with clients, opposing parties, and vendors
  • Interview witnesses and interact with courts
  • Schedule meetings and hearings
  • Obtain records, maintain exhibit and witness lists, and prepare chronologies
  • Record case time and expenses contemporaneously and meet minimum billing requirements

  • Draft correspondence, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
  • Communicate with clients, opposing parties, and vendors
  • Assist attorneys in investigations, interview witnesses and interact with courts
  • Schedule meetings and hearings
  • Obtain records, maintain exhibit and witness lists, and prepare chronologies
  • Record case time and expenses contemporaneously and meet minimum billing requirements

Qualifications  

  • Energetic individual with prior paralegal experience in litigation defense
  • Strong analytical skills, as well as advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work with a high volume of matters and in a team environment and to adhere to billable hour requirements
  • Highly self-motivated, possess strong initiative, and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment effectively
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of products and an ability to navigate and effectively manage a case management system
