Litigation Associate

Gray Reed, a full-service, Texas-based law firm with a nationwide practice, is seeking candidates for a commercial litigation associate attorney position in its Dallas office. We are looking for a candidate with enough experience to hit the ground running, while receiving excellent mentorship in a large, thriving practice group.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas.
  • 2 to 4 years of commercial litigation experience;
  • Experience drafting all aspects of litigation (pleadings, discovery, and motion practice)
  • Courtroom and deposition experience preferred, but not required.
  • Superior academic credentials;
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills;
  • The ability to multitask, think proactively and be able to function effectively in a team but also willing to handle significant individual responsibilities;
  • Willingness to work as part of an established, team-oriented practice group;
  • A desire to have contact with clients and build his or her own practice; and
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, fearlessness, a little patience, and a great sense of humor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting with and conducting (with mentorship) all aspects of commercial and business litigation matters;
  • Drafting initial pleadings, motion practice, and discovery;
  • Handling hearings, depositions, mediations, and other “out-from-behind-your-desk” legal work;
  • Being an ambassador for the firm in the Dallas community;
  • Conducting legal research and analysis as part of the ongoing strategy of a case;
  • Client management and development; and
  • Developing relationships with your colleagues and adding to a vibrant firm culture.

Compensation

Compensation and benefits package is competitive and commensurate with experience and includes, but is not limited to: medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) with employer contribution benefits, and discretionary bonuses for work performed.
