Associate Attorney – Commercial, Employment, and Personal Injury New

Stewart Law Group is seeking an associate attorney with at least five years of experience in civil litigation to join our firm. This role will handle cases in commercial litigation, including insurance defense and employment defense. We are seeking an attorney who is adept at handling a healthy caseload and is familiar with all aspects of the trial process, particularly drafting pleadings, motions, and notices and working towards a resolution.

Additionally, workplace investigations and writing succinct legal reports for clients should be part of your skill set.

The job responsibilities may include, among others, managing a docket of litigation files, which may consist of Drafting motions, pleadings, memoranda, and briefs, discovery demands and responses, conducting legal research, preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, and trials, and communicating with courts and opposing parties.

This is a mid- to senior-level position, so the ability to organize, prioritize, and self-pace, as well as meet all deadlines, is critical to this role.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize, prepare for, and attend conferences, hearings, trials, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Prepare pleadings and other legal documents such as motions, notices, and discovery requests, and responses
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written documents, including memorandums, motions, pleadings, and briefs
  • Attend court hearings and argue motions
  • Conduct corporate investigations, including interviewing, reporting, and presenting to clients
  • Coach and counsel junior associates and other legal staff on the performance of legal work and resolve conflicts

Qualifications

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Texas
  • 5+ years of experience in civil litigation matters with trial experience, preferably with a focus on commercial litigation and/or employment defense
  • Able to work independently while handling multiple files and supervising junior legal staff
  • Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills are desired, as are exceptional legal writing and verbal communication skills
  • Members of local bar associations desired
